Blind Spot Automation — When and Why it is imperative ?
“Every age has its massive moral blind spots. We might not see them, but our children will” — Bono
Above statement stands good or it’s the basics for any innovation which is made in this world. Innovation is just one step ahead of how world sees any matter, personal behavior or process being in place. Till start of 2000 no one thought about Software Testing as a key process as part of software development. Likewise, till early 2010’s, Test automation is not a mandatory part of Software Testing. Now we have Test automation as part of any Software Testing projects (at least 80% of projects). Is this all required? Have we achieved threshold? Are we done with what can be done in Test Automation space? As you guess, answer is a big NO. Let’s deep dive on this topic.
As all other process have a blind spot (which is not noticed), we do have unnoticed part in Test Automation. Let’s talk in detail below. Following are the list of items often goes unnoticed or marked as ‘Not-Automatable’.
Can we automate asynchronous call-based systems? Can we automate captcha? Can we automate server calls? Can we automate tests including jobs? Can we automate log level test (Error and warnings)? Can we automate image, video and Bar code reader automation? Can we do comparison of contents in pdf?
Can we really Automate the above? — YES. We can.
Usually, organizations aim at 60 to 70% of automation and we aim and achieved 95% + automation coverage as part of multiple projects.
How we do this? Stay Tuned!
